Country Day- Competing

 Written By Kirwyn

"Come in number 105" says the judge. I was up against my sister Payton. This was huge! If I went down to her I would lose my dignity and everything I had earned through out the last nine years of my life. (Which is actually my entire life time.) The judge said it was close…   BUT,” he said Layla (my calf) had less hair on her legs than she did on her body. I went silent
She’s the prettiest calf though.

“The winner is… number 105!” announced the judge. I was so happy. I had won!

Country Day- Kirwyns calf

Written By Cameron
It is time again for our terrific country day. YAY!
There were calves, lambs and amazing animals big and small, that had just been born! Today we got to take photos if we didn’t have an animal. At first we learnt how to take good photos.  Then me, Tray-Dee, Turanga and Max went over to have a look at Kirwyn’s calf close up. Layla (Kirwyn's) calf tried to chew my shirt when I was standing there talking to Kirwyn.
It was really hard to take a photo of a living animal but it was fun! It was a great day.

Country day- Goats

Written By Bella Luna

“Ba ba ba” I heard as I was walking over to see the kids (goats) some of them were white and some were multi coloured. Every kid was on a lead. I felt sorry for the kids been tied up on a lead as I started patting a little white one. It was Abigail’s kid “what’s its name” I said politely. As I sat down on the green grass I felt the coldness on my bottom. Just as I sat down I saw Nina’s kid called Lucky knock his head into another kid that looked well behaved.  Every kid had to do an obstacle course. Olivia’s kid kept lying down when it was doing the obstacle course. “You can do it Nina come on believe” my voice said. Every kid got stuck on the logs they were definitely scared. I heard the kids hooves on the long skinny peace of wood. “Well done” I said to Nina while I was patting the kid on its soft little head. Abigail’s kid was amazing when she did the obstacle course.

A moment in time- country day

Written By Caius
Once upon a time it was country day, some kids were waiting for this day because they had to train there animals to do all kinds of wacky stuff like the animal had to follow the there owner.
It was so awesome, it was awesome because the animal and the      owner worked together as a team.

Dear Rock Climbing Lady.
I am writing this letter to thank you for teaching us how to rock climb.

Thank you for letting me try the big climbing wall. The big blue blow up bouncy mat was lots of fun to jump on and climbing the wall with no harness was freaky.

Thank you for everything you did for us at rock climbing.

Kind regards

Camp poem

Fortunately  I went on the 5 hour walk.
Unfortunately I fell in the mud.

Fortunately there was lots of snow to fall on.
Unfortunately I fell over lots.

Fortunately we had good weather most of the time.
Unfortunately it rained on the last day.

Pumice and Hokey-Pokey

Writen by Tiffany

Room 3 made Hokey-Pokey to see what pumice and hokey-pokey have in common. Hokey-pokey has air bubbles and pumice does to. Pumice is white and hokey-pokey is golden. Hokey-pokey and pumice both float.

Winter sports

Written By Max

On a wet cold day in winter almost everyone year 4 and up went to winter sports. Me, Jamal, Tray-Dee, Cameron, Turanga and Kirwyn played rugby.  We lost 3 games, tied in 1 and won the rest. Overall we came 3rd. I was proud of myself because I scored 2 tries. When we versed Ohaupo we bet them because we worked as a team. Tray-Dee did lots of awesome tackles and Turanga did a really good try.  Winter sports was really fun and I got a day of school for it.

Turangi Report

Written By Tray-Dee
Turangi is a small and little town. It is the trout fishing capital of the world. It also has a ski field close by.
It is an area rich in the history of the Ngati Tuwharetoa. People come to stay in Turangi so that they can cut down on their travel to  get to all of the cool places around Turangi like the trout fishery, ski fields, the mountains and Lake Taupo.

I am going to have a lot of fun when I visit Turangi because it is going to be awesome.

Triple R Cafe Day

Written By Justin

On the day Miss S was leaving, Mrs E planned a Triple R café day for Miss S and Room 3.

We got to bring a soft toy, our p.js and a favourite book to school.  Nearly everyone was in their p.js!

We got to read all day, it was awesome! I read a book called The Fat Man, it was very interesting and cool.

At morning tea time while the teachers were out of the classroom, some of the kids from Room 3 were keeping me company. They were going wild, but luckily they only went wild on the mat.  They kept jumping on each other and the rugby ball bean bag that rs Monds had brought to school. It was actually a little bit funny!  When the bell rang we went back to reading so fast! , I was stunned.

At the end of the day I couldn’t say a word because I had read so much.

Gardening-Oregano

Written By Caleb

Oregano, scientific name Origanum vulgare.
This plant is part of the mint family. The plants grow from 20 -80cm tall.
Oregano lets out more flavour when it is dry than when it is fresh.  The taste is warm and slightly bitter.

Journey to Tangiwai

Written By Bella Luna

In the story Journey Tangiwai most people had wirelesses in their homes, which are like a radio. They didn’t have ovens – they had a coal range (fireplace) that they cooked food on. In every school the teachers had a strap which they slapped children on the hand with if they did something wrong.

The 20 hour famine

Written By Sophie

On the day of the famine when we stopped eating I was so hungry.  I just wanted to eat so badly.
We had a sleepover for the people who did the famine. We did lots of activities including playing hockey but it was really hard because the ball was made out of newspaper and so were the hockey sticks. The hockey sticks broke so we ended up playing soccer. We watched some videos about people living in Papua New Guinea. They only eat kaukau which is a sweet potato.

Lake Cameron

Written By Nina

The children and teachers of room 3 went to Lake Cameron on March 1st , to untangle all the weeds from around the bottom of the flax plants. It was fun because as well as tidying, we got to explore the  environment and we found lots of places adults couldn’t get to but kids could! There were lots of insects that I call “clicky bugs.” We found a trampoline stick that we all liked jumping on. The piles of weeds was huge by the time we had all finished. Justin’s wheelchair got stuck on the way out of one of the places adults couldn’t get to but kids could and it took a while to get him out!

wearable arts

Written By Caius, Hayley and Sian

In Term Two we got to design and make costumes out of recycled materials. Part of our task was to try and link our costume with a Fairy Tale, Myth or Legend.

Our character for wearable arts was called Porridge Fever.

Her hobbies are eating warm porridge, not hot or too cold and sleeping in a nice warm bed. She likes breaking chairs but …. She does not like grizzly bears.

The dress comes with a paper wig for her golden locks and a cardboard chair with a bowl and a comfy bed.

Have you guessed who our original character is? It’s…
GOLDIE LOCKS.

Off The Wall Wearable Arts Trip

Written By Kristianna

Towards the end of Term 2 Room 3 got to visit the Waikato museum and wander around the W.O.W (World of wearable Arts) exhibition. We went there because we were learning more about what types of things we could recycle for our costume designs and how we could  put them together .  When that lesson was over we watched a bit of the actual W.O.W show. After that was finished we went and saw the real costumes,  They were so  cool and creative! The whole exhibition was so  amazing that it blew me away. My favourite costumes were the firebird costume and the  glow and the dark butterfly costume. The Monarch butterfly costume was black and orange with white dots.

Healthy Eating

Written By Sophie

Rooms 3, 4 and 5 at the start of term 1 got to visit the super market to practice what they had learnt about Healthy Eating and Reading Labels. We are now trying to make our lunches better by having more fruit and other healthy things. Some good healthy cereals are weetbix and porridge. Some bad cereals are fruit loops (even thought its got the word fruit in it!) and coco pops.

Describing My Character Miss Schnuriger

Written By Sian

She had sparkling wings as bright as a million stars bunched up in a sleeping bag. Her dress was sparkling like a rock of gold 2km big. Her shoes were so sparkly I could hardly see. On her face; her eyes were so light blue and amazing with lips so cherry red. Her legs were as skinny as her arms and her arms as skinny as her legs.

She talks like the princess she is, she is so, so sparkly and very nice. She smells like flowers and pretty leaves. She tastes like strawberries and raspberries mixed together. She sounds like the harp echoing off the walls of the church. Her clothes were as bright as new gold. Her dress had roses all over. Her shoes were like ballet shoes. Her powers are pixie dust and make things sparkle like gold.

Character report- the vampire king

Written By Turanga

It was a frightening night. A black figure was flying and cartwheeling around. He has bony fingers and mysterious bright red eyes. Disappearing in the  darkness, he has cold dark blood. He was eating eye balls with 2 pit bulls by his side.

The Game

the bell rang I went outside I saw lots of people crowding around the field. I went and asked if I could play they said yes. I felt extremely excited. I couldn't stop wanting to play.

The other team kicked  the ball and I caught the ball and I ran a few meters and I got touched by a little boy. Then I tapped the ball and I passed it  to a friend of mine on my team. Stepped 1 person then another person and then he got touched.

He passed it then Josiah passed it to me and I stepped to the left and then stepped to the right. I had lots of energy left and then I sprinted as fast as I could. Finally I got to the tryline the winning try! I felt so exhausted after a long game of touch. I went and had a long drink.

speechs

Hi my name is Isaand and this is my speech I presented at a speech computation.

I was standing on the touchline tense but excited suddenly Mr Dawluk hushed us it was game time!! I was waiting for the horn it all happened so  fast because suddenly it was kick off. This excitement  and drama is what I have experienced  in room4 for the past 2 years. Quite a few of my achievements have been becoming  a young leader, road patroller and playing in the Glenview rugby team and quite a few others since starting school. I will always remember sport with   Moodeb but mostly gooj we always won NOT!!.
The ride at Glenview has had its ups and downs and now I have realised  how much I have grown since I was 5  and I am sad to say that I am not going to be here next year. Life is like a rugby game tence, exciment and disapointment but most of all success.

Claymation

Our first buzz week we did an amazing claymation movie involving awesome plaster scene characters. Alice, Kileri and Barash were the stupendous main characters in our movie. In this movie Kileri, Barash and Alice went to the cool worlds of: P.E land, music land, art land, science land,  library land, lunchtime land and opposite land in which Nobjam threw a ham through the window. On this journey Alice was endeavouring to find the magical learning rock. On the way to the magical learning rock Alice made many friends the whole time. Alice's new found friends helped her on the many obstacles in the adventures. Alice has been having a great many adventures and the movie is just being put together and is looking pretty good so far.One of the best part was filming the movie and just moving it a little bit at a time for each photo. It was great fun.
